Campaign Feasibility Study

OHS conducts a campaign feasibility study for the purpose of evaluating support and determining the campaign strategy for a potential capital campaign to construct a hospice patient facility. We will conduct the study on behalf of Hospice to 1) test the feasibility of the proposed campaign, 2) determine the leadership commitment to the campaign, 3) determine the philanthropic community’s financial commitment to the campaign, and 4) identify prospects for leadership and volunteers for the campaign.

A campaign feasibility study is a vital step in developing a successful strategy for the campaign. The survey will focus on the Case for Support, which is a brief, compelling statement of need designed to motivate prospects toward commitment to the project and a campaign. We will assist you in developing a Case for Support for the study, as well as develop materials for use during the interview including a questionnaire. The questions posed to participants in the study will be done so identically for each participant to maintain the integrity of the study and will be tailored to the specific needs of Hospice. Participants will also be shown a table of gifts needed to raise funds needed.

CAMPAIGN FEASIBILITY STUDY OBJECTIVES

The questionnaire through five critical elements necessary for an effective campaign including:

  1. Perception of the mission and management of Hospice.
  2. Perception of and commitment to the needs addressed by the campaign as outlined in the Case for Support.
  3. Availability of financial support, particularly large gifts needed for a successful campaign.
  4. Availability of leadership and volunteer support for the solicitation of gifts from the philanthropic community.
  5. Appropriateness of campaign timing, particularly the perception that Hospice is ready for the proposed campaign.

OHS provides a formal report for the Hospice that summarizes overall trends of the survey responses, indicates a reasonable and achievable goal, and includes valuable information concerning prospects for campaign leadership and prospects for initial gifts. OHS will make recommendations for ways in which volunteers can solicit and achieve maximum gift potential during the capital campaign. OHS will indicate any specific activities Hospice might undertake to increase the effectiveness of the campaign. The study will summarize the following:

  1. Perceived image of the organization.
  2. Public agreement of the need.
  3. Response for giving.
  4. Appropriate amounts of giving.
  5. Major prospects.
  6. Volunteer leadership.
  7. Campaign objective.
  8. Timetable.
  9. Staffing required.
  10. Public relations support needed.
